Why am I running?

I love Needham.  I want to see the town grow with balance, stability, and thoughtful stewardship.

If elected, I will serve you – the residents – you are the town’s most important stakeholders.  As a member of the Planning Board, I will work solely to represent the citizen-residents of this town, especially the neighborhoods directly impacted by proposed projects.  We must focus on the long-term future of Needham – we arrive there, together.

As an engineer and business leader, I look for data and ask questions.  I test assertions and press for full answers.  I will use this skill to serve our town.

I have no financial ties to “special interests” such as developers, real estate businesses, architects, law firms, banks, lending institutions, the Chamber of Commerce, the Council of Economic Advisors, or any related energy or construction industry.

I will listen and reach out. So much of our discord comes from not listening.

My only goal is to support thoughtful and balanced development through an open, inclusive process where everyone has a seat at the table.  Most importantly, I will push for your involvement in every public decision-making process.

Why now?  The decision-making process surrounding the town’s compliance with the MBTA Zoning law inspired me to run.  From the very beginning of the process, citizens expressed their concerns about the scale of rezoning.  In a town sponsored survey, 52% of residents favored only the minimum zoning changes required.  Along with many other town residents, I attended the public meetings and expressed my thoughts and concerns.  Yet, decisions were made that were out of touch with most Needham residents.

I am proud of my role as a key leader in the historic Vote NO referendum.  I worked to allow all of our town citizens to make a decision which will impact our town forever.

I hope I can count on your support in the town-wide election in April.
